In the beginning…

Sunday, May 7
After months of planning we’re on the road. First stop Spokane.
We spent a short time at the hotel near the airport and awoke the next morning with a 3 am wake-up call for our 6 o’clock flight to Portland.

Made it through breakfast without spilling anything on my clothes which is a big deal with everything we’ve got sandwiched into 2 carry-ons, a purse, and a backpack. Portland airport is consistently rated one of the top airports in North America and was a good spot to get our bearings and shake out the cobwebs. The flight to Dallas was smooth on one of Bombardier’s finest plus the great service Alaska Airlines provides. It was our first time at the Dallas airport and the switch to American was a breeze with their Sky Shuttle overhead train.
A short wait and we were on our final leg,the 9 hour flight to Paris. We had a 787 wide body with about 350 passengers on board. A myriad of entertainment options were available on the seat back video screens and the time actually passed quite quickly. Their were several dinner options and free beverages. Surprisingly they provided a reasonable breakfast in the morning too. The service was impressive and we landed unscathed but a little disoriented. BUT WE WERE IN PARIS!!
